Every year, various travel agencies compile a list of beaches that they consider to be the best among the United States. You could probably guess where some of these beaches reside; Hawaii, California, and yes, Florida. Yet most people seem to skip over a smaller part of Florida that constantly appears among the top spots on these lists. Sarasota, Florida is home to Siesta Key Beach, named best beach in the United States by TripAdvisor back in 2015. Although beaten out by Clearwater Beach in 2016, this year Siesta Key Beach is back on top.
TripAdvisor's Top 25 Beaches of the United States is an annual Traveler's Choice award, accumulated by how often travelers visit the destination and how high they rank their experience at the place, according to Tampa Bay Times. The beach's white-powder sand, clear waters and mesmerizing sunsets didn't just impress US travelers, but rather travelers from all over the globe. On TripAdvisor's poll for Top 25 Beaches in the World, Siesta Key Beach snagged spot number 5, making it the only beach from the United States to make it onto the list.
As Sarasota is a rather small town, most travelers tend to navigate towards more populated beaches where the beaches are packed and the cost of everything around them is high. Siesta Key Beach, on the other hand, is not this way. After a multi-million dollar renovation, beach goers now have more room to park, more restrooms, a park for children, and two different pavilions for food. The best part? You an enjoy this beautiful beach without paying for parking or paying for entry. Some beaches on the Top 25 list require a pass or a badge to relax on the beach; others require parking fees and meter tolls. But here in Sarasota, you get to enjoy the best beach in the United States without the added cost. The surrounding shops and restaurants are all fairly priced, as they don't jack up the prizes being on sacred sand. So next time you're looking to see some crisp, sparkling beaches without breaking the bank, remember that you can see the best; essentially free of cost. Find out why by watching the video below.
