Cheap Eats in Florence, Italy & Barcelona, Spain

As a student abroad, I always found it difficult to balance my budget correctly; especially with the exchange rate from the Euro to the American Dollar. After a month or so, I found ways to eat great food without breaking the bank. I just wish I had a guide for that first month to some cheap eats, so I'm providing one for you guys. That, and I wish I never got Burger King in Amsterdam. Splurge in Amsterdam. Below you'll find great places in two major European cities that I traveled to.

Gusta Pizza

This was a favorite of mine in Florence, Italy. I was able to get a personal pizza for only 5 Euros with a meal voucher that I was provided with by the school I studied abroad with, Florida State University. The pizzas never disappointed; they're simply mouth watering. If you want authentic Italian pizza, go to Gusta Pizza; its loved by locals and tourists alike. You can view the menu here. And if the chefs like you, you may even get a pizza in the shape of a heart.

Mercado de La Boqueria

This market on the famous La Rambla in Barcelona, Spain, is known for their fresh fruit, veggies, and meat. Its an enormous out door market that you're bound to get lost in; more than likely, voluntarily. My favorite part about the market are their fruit juices, pictured at the beginning of the post and priced at a shocking 2 euros. They're usually a combination of two fresh, exotic fruits, although they offer fruit juices that are tailored to a less adventurous tongue. Unlike many street markets, Mercado de La Boqueria is year round and always open during the day.
